I am proud to offer therapy dog training in Broward County and to share the impact therapy dogs can make in our community. Over the years, I’ve seen how the presence of a well-trained therapy dog can change lives—whether it’s bringing comfort to children in schools, supporting families in hospitals, or offering relief during moments of crisis.
My German Shepherd, Coco, has been a big part of this journey. Together, we’ve been involved in meaningful therapy dog activities throughout Broward County. After the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy in Parkland, Coco and I joined other therapy dog teams to provide comfort to students, parents, and staff as they tried to process and heal from the unthinkable. Coco also served during the Surfside condominium collapse, where her calm and gentle presence provided emotional support for families, first responders, and volunteers who were working tirelessly under heartbreaking circumstances.
Experiences like these show the true value of therapy dogs. They are not just pets; they are companions who help ease stress, reduce anxiety, and bring hope during the most difficult times. It takes the right type of training and preparation to ensure a dog is ready for this important work, and that’s where I come in. Through my therapy dog training programs here in Broward County, I help dog owners understand what it takes to prepare their dogs for therapy roles—whether visiting nursing homes, hospitals, schools, or serving in crisis situations.
The training goes beyond basic obedience. Therapy dog training focuses on developing calm, reliable, and gentle behavior, along with the ability to stay focused in unpredictable environments. It’s about building a strong partnership between handler and dog so they can work as a team to bring comfort where it’s needed most.
Coco’s story inspires me every day to share this path with others. Watching her connect with people, offering comfort without words, has shown me the incredible power dogs have to heal. My goal is to help more people in Broward County explore therapy dog work so that together we can touch even more lives in a positive way.
If you live in Broward County and have a dog you believe might be suited for therapy work, I’d love to guide you through the process. Therapy dogs make a lasting impact, and with the right training, you and your dog can be part of something truly meaningful.
Because when it comes to helping others, a therapy dog can make all the difference.
