God’s final plan and hope for every human race is to be with him forever. Whoever believes in the King of Kings will live with him in his holy city Jerusalem. Hebrews 11:10 calls this city “the city which has foundations whose builder and maker is God.”
After the Millennium, once Satan and his followers have been banished to the lake of fire, God will destroy the present world. Judgment is passed and a new heaven and earth will be made. Then out of this new heaven, from God the New Jerusalem will descend.
Rev. 21:1-27″ I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem coming out of heaven from God, prepared as a new bride beautifully prepared for her husband. And I heard a loud voice saying ‘now the dwelling of God is with men and he will live with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ …”
The following of Revelations and Ezekiel 39 onwards (chapters 40-48) describes this glorious city. It is a city that shines with the glory of God, with brilliance of a very precious jewel- clear as crystal. It has high walls and twelve gates and angels will stand at each gate. (Rev. 21:22) This gates will never be shut as there is no night there and on the twelve gates are written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
Rev. 22:1-6 The river of the water of life will flow from the throne of God and of the lamb, down the middle of the great city. No longer will there be any curse. His servants will see God’s face and serve him, His name will be written on their foreheads. There will be no more night and light won’t be from a lamp or the sun for the lord God will be their light. The chosen ones whose name is written in the Book of Life will reign with him for ever and ever. They will be the only ones to enter this holy city. Rev. 21:27 “nothing impure will enter.”
Let us wait in faith for God’s word to unfold, “for the lord is not slow in keeping his promise” 2 Peter 3:9-10
